Connect Facebook Messenger

Let customers reach you where they already scroll. DutyPilot answers your Facebook Page's Messenger conversations instantly with AI grounded in your knowledge base, and escalates to your team when a human touch is needed.

What you'll need

A Facebook Page for your business
Admin access to that Page
A Meta app with the Messenger platform product
The Pages messaging permission for your app
1

Create or open your Facebook Page

Messenger conversations are tied to a Facebook Page, not a personal profile. If you don't have a Page yet, create one at facebook.com/pages/create โ€” choose the category that fits your business.

You need admin (or editor with messaging rights) access to the Page to connect it to any app.

2

Add the Messenger product to your Meta app

In developers.facebook.com โ†’ My Apps, open (or create) your business app and click Add Product โ†’ Messenger.

Under Access Tokens you'll see your Pages listed. Generate a Page Access Token for the Page you want to connect โ€” this is what authorizes DutyPilot to send and receive that Page's messages.

3

Connect in DutyPilot

In DutyPilot, open Integrations โ†’ Messenger and click Connect with Facebook. The Meta login dialog appears โ€” sign in with the account that administers the Page and approve the requested permissions.

Pick your Page in the dialog. DutyPilot stores the page token and links the channel. Status flips to Connected immediately.

Subscribe the webhook

In Meta App Dashboard โ†’ Messenger โ†’ Configuration, paste DutyPilot's webhook URL and verify token (shown on the Messenger integration card), then subscribe to the messages and messaging_postbacks fields.

This is what delivers every incoming Messenger conversation to DutyPilot in real time โ€” same webhook infrastructure as WhatsApp and Instagram, which is why all three channels share one unified inbox.

Know the 24-hour window

Meta allows apps to send messages freely within 24 hours of the customer's last message โ€” the standard customer-service window. DutyPilot's AI replies live inside this window, so responses are always instant.

Outside the window, promotional messages require approved message tags (like post-purchase updates). DutyPilot plays it safe: after 24 hours it stops auto-replying and flags the conversation for your team. Within the window, everything is automated.

6

Test it end to end

Open your Page, click the Send Message button (as any visitor would) and ask a question that your knowledge base covers. Watch it land in DutyPilot's inbox and get an instant, cited answer.

Not receiving messages? Double-check the webhook subscription โ€” the messages field is the one that carries customer conversations.
